Wanaka Autumn Art School 2024

Day #1 Getting Settled

Welcome to the “as it’s happening” log:

Last week, our town witnessed a near drought, only to be drenched in three days of relentless rain. The clouds lingered, casting a dismal shadow over our days. Yet, like a magician pulling a rabbit from a hat, the school somehow managed to summon the best of weather once again, and each class overflowed with eager participants.

Please note: the annual Wanaka Autumn Art School is an ongoing project of the Upper Clutha Community Arts Council

Today marked the inception of our journey into the Art of Photography, under the guidance of the esteemed Kaye Davis. Before embarking on our adventure, we indulged in lively discussions on the intricate nuances of art, tracing its rich history through the ages. Fueled by anticipation, we set forth, our spirits buoyant, towards the Wanaka Marina.

Black Peak framed on our walk to the Marina.

We were fortunate to see a classic sailboat set forth in light airs. Some of us decided to contrast this with some light excluded.

While others explored complimentary colours and intentional camera movement (ICM)
The clear water was beguiling as it hosted the Marina supports
Ways to secure whatever at the Wanaka Yacht Club club-rooms
Quite an upstanding palette
And for some contrast!
