Election of Members

At the Upper Clutha Community Arts Council, the process of electing members is an inclusive and community-driven endeavor. Our commitment to diversity and community involvement is reflected in the way we form our leadership team.

Chair Nomination:

The position of Chair is nominated from within the committee. This ensures a seamless transition of leadership and a deep understanding of the council’s vision and objectives.

Committee Member Nomination:

We welcome and encourage community involvement in the nomination of committee members. At our Annual General Meeting (AGM), individuals have the opportunity to nominate committee members. This nomination process is open to anyone from the local community, making it an inclusive and participatory event

Nomination by Members:

Members of the Upper Clutha Community Arts Council can nominate individuals, whether they are existing members or community members attending the AGM. This flexibility allows us to tap into the diverse talents and perspectives present within our community.

Nominating an Outsider:

We value fresh perspectives and welcome the nomination of individuals who may not be current members. Members have the opportunity to invite and nominate individuals from the community during the AGM. This practice encourages the inclusion of new voices and a broad representation of our community’s interests.

Securing a Seconder:

To formalize a nomination, a member can seek a seconder during the AGM. This process ensures that there is support for the nominee within the community, fostering a collaborative and cooperative environment.

Maximum Limit:

In our commitment to quality in embracing community participation, we have maximum limit of 12 individuals who can be nominated and join the Upper Clutha Community Arts Council.

Funding Sources for the Upper Clutha Community Arts Council:

Common sources of funding for community arts councils in New Zealand typically encompass Creative New Zealand, local government grants, philanthropic foundations, and community trusts. In the case of our endeavors, our primary source of support comes from the Central Lakes Trust, specifically through their class scheme known as the Central Lakes Arts Support Scheme.

Central Lakes Arts Support Scheme: The Upper Clutha Community Arts Council is fortunate to receive grants from the Central Lakes Trust, emphasising their commitment to fostering artistic endeavors in our region. Operating under the Central Lakes Arts Support Scheme, this funding avenue plays a crucial role in supporting our diverse initiatives.

Grant Distribution Details: ?It’s important to note that the Central Lakes Trust imposes a cap on grant amounts, limiting them to $2000 and under for each application. This ensures that a broad range of projects can benefit from financial assistance, contributing to the vibrant arts landscape of the Upper Clutha community.
